Without doubt the best cinematic snapshot of life around the music scene in Manchester at that time. Humorous, energetic, adventurous, cocky and belligerent, a film with a very Mancunian identity told in collage/sketch/ make it up as you go along because nobody knows where we're going anyway style; which is pretty much what was occurring as Manchester music slipped into Madchester mayhem around our central anti hero Tony Wilson, (hammed up, affectionately, by Steve Coogan), and The Hacienda; FAC 52. A movie with a Punk aesthetic, with spontaneity and a DIY energy. Hallelujah! be watching it again.
